Zack Greinke has been almost untouchable in the 2009 Major League Baseball season. He has dowsed the competition with a blazing fastball and an amazing hook that is out of this world. Tuesday night was no different than normal with Greinke just killing his competition, who were the Detroit Tigers. Zack went all nine for the fifth time this year while he only allowed one run which has also been a them this season. Greinke after Tuesday night now has a 0.84 ERA, which of course stands for Earned Run Average.
Greinke paid close attention to the way Verlander shut out Kansas City through seven innings in an easy Detroit win on Monday. Then the Royals ace took the best stuff he's had all year to the mound on Tuesday night and tossed a six-hitter in a 6-1 victory over the Tigers.
"I've been getting worried that teams are going to make adjustments," said Greinke, who leads the majors in ERA, complete games and shutouts. "But I was watching Verlander pitch and even if I knew exactly what he was going to do, I was like, 'I couldn't hit him.' So just stay with what you do and stop thinking so much. "I think it helped me a lot for today."
Greinke threw his fifth complete game this season and the eighth of his career, joining Toronto's Roy Halladay as the only eight game winners in the majors. So after another wonderful performance from Greinke he will start next on Sunday afternoon at home infront of the hometown Kansas City fans that he has inspired with his wonderful comback. He will take on the Chicago White Sox as John Danks will pitch for them, Greinke will be going for a 9-1 record on Sunday as the Royals will be wearing there powder blue alternate jerseys.

Ahh one of the best time of the year on the 'ole ball field, it is time to mix the two different stylings of the American League with the National League. The first weekend of interleague play is always one of the best weekends of the whole season because we get to see many classic rivalries renewed that we only get to see once or twice a year. These rivalries include Texas and Houston, Tampa Bay and Florida, LA Angels and LA Dodgers, and finally the I-70 series the Royals and Cardinals.
This year the opening day of interleague play was filled with plenty of great match-ups. First we had the Baltimore Orioles taking on the Washington Nationals. In this game we went into extra frames, a total of three innings of free baseball, and who doesn't love some good free baseball? The Nats gave the O's a run for there money, but once again Manny Acta's bullpen blew the game. We have seen this time and time again this season with the National bullpen. It seems like this team would try to pull it together and try to get a trade or get a key free agent in that pen. All we know for sure is the Manny Acta's pen is gonna have to shape up, his job is on the line.
Tonight on the start of interleague play we saw plenty of free baseball a total of 7 free innings of baseball. Another game that went into extras was on the west coast and like the Nats, O's game went into 12. This game was between the San Francisco Giants and the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners ended up taking game one of this series with the Giants with a score of 2 to 1. The final game that went into extra frames was the battle for Texas between Houston and who else Texas. This game went 10 innings as Texas went on to a 6 to 5 win.
After one day of interleague play, well you guessed it the AL has the upper hand leading 8 to 6 after 14 interleague games. The NL should come back strong because they hate to lose, but hey, who doesn't? And the NL has definently expirienced a lot of losing especially lately.
